Brown Rot

Caused by Monilinia fungi, which infect blossoms and fruit especially after wet weather during flowering, spreading via wind and rain-splashed spores and through wounds in the fruit skin.

Remove and destroy all infected fruit and mummified fruit left on the tree, prune out blighted twigs, and apply fungicide sprays timed around bloom in wet seasons.

Thin fruit to improve airflow, avoid fruit injury from pests, and clear fallen and mummified fruit each season.
