Photinia Leaf Spot

• circleSmall red to dark brown spots on leaves that enlarge with grey centers
• circleSpots merging into larger blotches on heavily infected leaves
• circleSignificant leaf drop, especially on lower and inner branches

Caused by the fungus Entomosporium mespili, spreading via water splash and favored by prolonged wet, humid weather and dense, poorly ventilated hedging.

Remove and destroy fallen and infected leaves, prune to open up dense growth, and apply fungicide during wet periods on plants with a history of infection.

Avoid overhead watering, prune hedges to improve airflow, and avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer that promotes soft, susceptible growth.
