Identification

Metallic green beetle with coppery-brown wing covers and small tufts of white hair along the abdomen edges.

Life Cycle

Single generation per year; grubs overwinter deep in soil, adults emerge in summer to feed and mate for several weeks.

Adults skeletonise leaves between veins and feed on flowers in large groups; larvae (grubs) feed on grass roots, damaging lawns.

Hand-pick or shake beetles into soapy water in early morning. Apply beneficial nematodes to soil to target grubs.
