Psyllids on Bay Laurel

Small jumping insects resembling tiny cicadas, often with clear or mottled wings held roof-like over the body; nymphs are flattened and scale-like, sometimes producing waxy filaments.

Adults lay eggs on new growth; nymphs develop through several stages while feeding on the same leaves, with multiple generations per year in warm conditions.

Feeding causes leaf curling, yellow blotching, pitting, or thickened galls depending on species and host; heavy infestations weaken shoots and reduce vigour. Some species also transmit plant diseases.
