Peperomia Watermelon

Peperomia argyreia

houseplant

Peperomia Watermelon is named for its distinctive oval leaves with prominent silver stripes that resemble watermelon rind patterns on a dark green background. This compact, low-growing houseplant reaches only 6–8 inches tall and makes an excellent choice for shelves, desks, or as part of a mixed container display. It produces delicate cream-colored flower spikes that appear above the attractive foliage.

Care Guide

light_mode
Light
Bright, indirect light; the striping on leaves is most vibrant in good light; avoid direct sun which can scorch the foliage
water_drop
Water
Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings; water when top inch feels dry; be cautious with overwatering which quickly causes root rot in this species
compost
Soil
Well-draining potting mix with added perlite, orchid bark, or coarse sand; must not retain excess moisture
science
Fertiliser
Feed diluted balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during growing season; reduce or cease feeding in winter months
thermometer
Temperature
Prefers 65–75°F (18–24°C); avoid cold temperatures below 55°F (13°C) which stress the plant and cause leaf drop
humidity_percentage
Humidity
Moderate humidity (40–60%); light misting is acceptable but ensure leaves dry quickly to prevent fungal issues
