This striking candelabra primrose produces distinctive tiered whorls of deep red to purple flowers stacked vertically along tall stems, often with a mealy white dusting on stems and leaves. Native to damp woodlands in western China, it grows 24–36 inches tall and is ideal for bog gardens, streamside plantings, and moist border settings. The dramatic, architectural flower form and extended flowering period make it a standout specimen in shade gardens.
