Ribbon Grass

Phalaris arundinacea

outdoor

A vigorous running grass with variegated green and white striped foliage that brightens shaded areas and wet sites where many plants struggle. This hardy, fast-growing grass spreads via rhizomes and is excellent for erosion control, wetland gardens, and naturalized areas, though it requires management to prevent overcrowding. The cultivar 'Picta' is most ornamental, though it needs regular division to maintain vigor and maintain variegation.
