Skimmia

Skimmia japonica

shrub

A compact, evergreen shrub with aromatic foliage and clusters of fragrant white flowers in spring followed by bright red berries that persist through winter on female plants. The dense, dark green leaves provide excellent year-round structure, and the fruit attracts birds to the garden. Skimmia is shade-tolerant and performs well in woodlands and shaded borders.
