How to Diagnose
Dry, bleached, or papery brown patches on the parts of the leaf facing the sun = sunburn. Dark, water-soaked, or soft spreading patches = likely overwatering or fungal rot. Circular spots with yellow halos = fungal leaf spot. Examine the pattern and whether spots are spreading.
Treatment
For sunburn: move plant out of direct intense sun — the damaged leaves won't recover but new ones will grow normally. For overwatering: let dry out and check roots. For fungal spots: remove affected leaves, improve air circulation, apply copper-based or neem fungicide. For fertiliser burn: flush soil with water.
Prevention
Acclimatise plants gradually to brighter light. Avoid overhead watering. Ensure good air circulation. Don't overfertilise. Water with room-temperature water rather than cold.
